‘God Has a Plan’ Regardless of Election Results, Charlotte Pence Bond Asserts

As millions across the nation cast their votes on Election Day, Charlotte Pence Bond stressed the importance of looking to God regardless of the outcome.

In the latest episode of her podcast, Doubting It, Bond shared a touching story about how God led her father to the White House.

According to CBN News, Bond explained that she and her parents, Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence, took a trip to a dude ranch and were hiking. At the time, Vice President Pence, who had success in broadcast media and law, was thinking about running for Congress again following two unsuccessful bids.

As they stood on a cliff, the Pences saw something that would alter the course of their lives.

“My mom and my dad are standing on this cliff … and they look out over the cliff and they see these two hawks and they’re flying,” Bond explained. “But they’re not flapping their wings, they’re just kind of gliding together, and the wind is just kind of carrying them along.”

Karen Pence, who was touched by the scene, told her husband that the scene illustrated how God would carry them if they make another political run.

“My mom says to my dad, ‘If we’re going to run again, we’re going to run as those two hawks — no flapping’,” Bond continued. “‘We’re going to let God carry us up to a position or not. We’re going to glide … we’re not going to try to get there on our own.’”

Pence would then successfully be elected to Congress before later becoming the governor of Indiana in 2012.

Four years later, Pence would become Vice President of the United States.

From that moment, Bond and her family realized the importance of trusting God in guiding the direction of their lives. She called others to the same, adding that it is powerful to recognize the “ways that God is faithful.” She added, “he does have a plan.”

While people may be nervous on Election Day, Bond stressed that everything is in God’s hands, including the election outcome and the direction of their lives.

“I want to encourage you: if you’re nervous today — on election day — just remember that God has a plan for us,” she asserted. “Regardless of the results of elections, we respect the person who God has placed in authority.”

Bond also told listeners to pray for people in leadership positions and to devote themselves in seeking God personally.

“Be ready for whatever God is calling you to do,” she stressed.
