Wisconsin, Arizona Certify Their Presidential Election Results, Declare Biden the Winner

The states of Wisconsin and Arizona certified their presidential election results, naming Joe Biden as the victor of the two battleground states.

According to the Associated Press, Wisconsin completed a partial recount of votes that added to his 20,600-vote margin over Donald Trump. Trump says he will file a lawsuit in dispute of the results.

“Today I carried out my duty to certify the November 3rd election,” said Gov. Tony Evers after signing the certified results. “I want to thank our clerks, election administrators, and poll workers across our state for working tirelessly to ensure we had a safe, fair, and efficient election. Thank you for all your good work.”

Trump now has five days to file a lawsuit that would have to overturn and disqualify as many as 238,000 ballots for him to win. Trump’s attorneys have said the election was marked by fraud.

“The officials certifying have made no effort to find out the truth, which to me, gives the state Legislature the perfect reason to take over the conduct of this election because it’s being conducted irresponsibly and unfairly,” said Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Also Monday, Arizona state officials certified Biden’s victory.

“We do elections well here in Arizona. The system is strong,” said Gov. Doug Ducey.

In a tweet on Monday, Trump said of Ducey: “Why is he rushing to put a Democrat in office, especially when so many horrible things concerning voter fraud are being revealed at the hearing going on right now.”

Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said the election “was conducted with transparency, accuracy and fairness in accordance with Arizona’s laws and election procedures, despite numerous unfounded claims to the contrary.”

In the Arizona election, Biden beat Trump by 10,457 votes. Biden is only the second Democrat in 70 years to win the state.
