Cory Asbury’s Song ‘Reckless Love’ to Become a Movie
Cory Asbury, a Christian music artist, is about to have a movie about his hit song “Reckless Love” produced by DeVon Franklin and with a script written by J. Mills Goodloe, Deadline reports.
The movie was picked up by Paramount Pictures and will be about the love story between him and his wife, which the song is about.
The movie will be produced by Israel Houghton and Ashley Bucks, in addition to Alex Rosario.
Asbury explained the backstory of “Reckless Love” to CBN’s The 700 Club in an interview with Gordon Robertson.
Aside from it being about his wife, Asbury says it is more about a five-year journey of discovering the Love of God. Growing up with a distant father, Asbury had difficulty understanding a Father’s love.
“There were not a lot of ‘I love yous’ or “I’m proud of yous,'” he told Robertson. “When you grow up like that, you think of God that way,” he went on to say, claiming he had that idea of God himself.
But then he remembered having his son Gabriel and looking into his eyes and immediately being filled with love for his son. It was then that said he understood that “God is close” and “He adores us the wat that I adore this little boy.” He credited this realization and his relationship with his son as a catalyst that allowed him to restore his relationship with his father.
“Reckless Love” has been streamed more than 300 million times, with 138 million of them coming from Spotify. Further, the YouTube video has reached over 130 million views.
The song spent more than a year in the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart and spent almost 20 weeks as number 1. It was also on the chart for 68 weeks total.
