Pornhub to Make ‘Huge Changes’ after Exposé Reveals Damaging Videos

A new exposé has revealed that the pornography website Pornhub was profiting off videos of rape and child trafficking, which is leading to “huge changes” at the website, The Christian Post reports. The changes come after a New York Times report highlighting the victims.

The negative press Pornhub has been receiving is due in large part to Christians organizations such as Fight The New Drug, the American Family Association, National Center on Sexual Exploitation, and Family Policy Alliance exposing their promotion of child sex slave videos, The Christian Post reports.

Some of Pornhub’s changes include “[retaining] outside experts to independently review [their] compliance program and make recommendations that focus on eliminating all illegal content. . . [and] taking major steps to further protect our community. Going forward, [they] will only allow properly identified users to upload content,” according to a statement from Pornhub.

However, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation is not convinced the changes will do anything. Dawn Hawkins, the Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the organization stated “Pornhub cannot be trusted: it has profited for years from rape, child sexual abuse material, sex trafficking, and revenge pornography. The New York Times exposed Pornhub for what it is: a profiteer of rape. Any number of ‘improvements’ will not change that fact. Pornhub must be shut down.”

That quote comes from an official statement from the organization that says Pornhub’s “improvements” don’t do justice to the victims of their videos that displayed child sex trafficking and rape.

“Pornhub executives are liars when they claim they care about safety. Beyond their extensive history of facilitating and profiting from crimes of sexual abuse and exploitation, we know many survivors who have repeatedly reached out to Pornhub to have nonconsensually-shared material – as well as videos of rape – removed, but their requests were ignored. The victims of Pornhub deserve better,” Hawkins went on to say.

Pornhub is one of the biggest porn websites. It was known before the recent exposé for releasing a yearly “State Of Porn” report that details the site’s requests for differing types of porn and the demographics and locations where each type of porn is popular. The site has one of the most aggressive marketing campaigns, known for taking out full-blown billboard ads to advertise their website, The New York Times reported in their exposé on the site, that also garnered national attention.
