Pornhub to Remove Millions of Videos after Investigation Uncovers Content Showing Child Abuse
Pornhub has begun to remove mass amounts of content from their website after admitting to 118 incidents of child sex abuse in videos.
The removal of the videos comes after Pornhub received an onslaught of negative press due, in part, to the exposure by Christian organizations such as Fight The New Drug, the American Family Association, National Center on Sexual Exploitation and Family Policy Alliance of the site’s promotion of child exploitation in videos, The Christian Post reports.
Additionally, Visa and MasterCard suspended support for the website, causing millions of subscriptions to be dropped from the site.
Pornhub, in a statement to the press after the purge of videos, wrote that they have removed all unverified video uploads and now only accept content from verified accounts. They claim this is something that Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other major video sites do not do. Additionally, they called out Facebook for its large role in child sex abuse, stating “Over the last three years, Facebook self-reported 84 million instances of child sexual abuse material. During that same period, the independent, third-party Internet Watch Foundation reported 118 incidents on Pornhub.”
ExodusCry, a non-profit that is devoted to shutting down Pornhub for their aiding of human trafficking, in addition to other things, stated on Twitter that “this could be one of the most significant actions ever taken against criminal porn: Pornhub just REMOVED 10 MILLION+ UNVERIFIED VIDEOS, which is nearly 75 percent of its video collection! A huge WIN for the united #Traffickinghub movement!”

ExodusCry’s website, traffickinghub.com, details the crimes Pornhub has engaged in and states their ultimate goal is to completely shut down the website.
Traffickinghub, the campaign, is supported by over 300 child protection, anti-trafficking and women’s rights organizations and was one of the sources used for a major New York Times news story covering Pornhub’s aiding of child sex trafficking.
