TV Show Depicting Jesus’ Life to Debut on TV


The Chosen, an 8-episode TV series depicting the life of Jesus, will debut on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on Monday, February 8, CBN News reports.

TBN’s chairman Matt Crouch, son of founder Paul Crouch, shared with Breaking Christian News, “We are thrilled to bring this television series to TBN and allow our viewers to experience Jesus in a way that has never been done before.”

The 8-episode first season reportedly tells the story of the people whose lives were changed upon encountering Jesus.Apparently the show has multiple seasons.

According to an Instagram post from TBN, the chosen follows multiple characters. The post describes the season as “A charismatic fisherman struggling with debt. A troubled woman wrestling with demons. A gifted accountant ostracized from his family and people. In this ground-breaking first season of The Chosen, see how Jesus reaches each of these and more as He works His first miracles and embarks on His ministry to change the world. See Him through the eyes of those who knew Him.”

Commenters to the Instagram post were excited that TBN decided to debut The Chosen on their cable channel. One user wrote, “I’m so excited TBN will be showing this. Thank you. I love your station!!”

According to Breaking Christian News, The Chosen has been viewed “nearly 50 million times in 180 countries and is currently being translated to 70 languages. Season one has earned two Movieguide Award nominations and has a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes from eight reviews and 99 percent from audiences.” It will air at 9 pm on Monday after Praise.

The Trinity Broadcasting Network claims it is the “world’s largest Christian television network and America’s most-watched faith-and-family channel.” It was founded in 1973 by Paul and Jan Crouch and has 30 global networks reaching every inhabited continent. They reportedly reach 2 billion potential viewers each day.
