New York Sues Two Black Pro-Lifers, Accuses Them of Violently Protesting Outside of Planned Parenthood

The State of New York has filed a lawsuit against two pro-lifers who were protesting in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic.

The suit alleges the two pro-lifers were acting violently and threatening the staff members. The suit also claims that the two protesters put staff at risk of contracting the Coronavirus by standing near them. There is no available evidence to suggest that either of the protesters were sick with COVID-19.

The suit continued, arguing that their “violent” behavior peaked when they organized a large protest in front of the Planned Parenthood.

According to The Christian Post, the lawsuit alleges that during this large-scale protest, “Defendant Beatty slammed a staff member’s hand in the door causing her to need x-rays; repeatedly shoved a clinic volunteer attempting to enter the clinic; slapped a different volunteer in the face; and threatened to knock an escort unconscious. Defendant Chavannes screamed death threats in a staff member’s face while maskless, bending the staff member backwards over the barricades until police intervened to pull Chavannes off.”

The suit seeks to demand payment from the two defendants for compensatory damages and civil penalties. The activists, who have decried Planned Parenthood’s racist history, have neither confirmed nor denied if these allegations are true.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Beatty and Chavannes first made headlines in July, when they attempted to paint over a Black Lives Matter mural in front of the Trump Tower in Manhattan. While attempting to paint over the mural, the two activists shouted, “Jesus Matters!” Both women were eventually arrested.

Beatty and Chavannes are the founders of At The Well ministries. According to their website, At The Well ministries “is a nonprofit organization dedicated to duplicating the ‘well experience’ in people’s lives by sharing Jesus one city at a time. We endeavor to empower people, make disciples and bring the reality of who Jesus is in the darkest places.” The mission is to “travel globally and tell people about the love of Jesus Christ.”

The website goes on to explain some of how that works: “Whether it be food, clothes, toys, or baby food, we aspire to provide for those in need.”
