Chip and Joanna Gaines Transform Emergency Girls’ Shelter
Chip and Joanna Gaines’ latest project “Fixer-Upper: Welcome Home” involves changing an emergency girls’ shelter into a chic and comfortable home, CBN News reports.
The shelter, which is in Waco, Texas, is home to about 16 girls at a time ranging from 5-21 years old. The shelter houses the girls for up to 90 days before they transition to long-term solutions such as foster care.
In an Instagram post, Joanna Gaines shared that she was “so proud of this community of women,” noting that this project “will always have a special place in our hearts.”
On the Gaines’ Magnolia website, the couple shared that the project was completed with the help of donations from the community.
“As we started the design and renovation process, a lot of thought and intentionality went into finding ways to make this facility feel safe—and to serve as a haven for these girls where they can rest, create, and find community during their time here, however long that may be. So many families from our community donated money and resources to help us complete the construction.”
On Instagram, the Magnolia Network shared photos of the new workspace, which features the words “your story matters” painted on the wall.
“A place made for comfort, creativity, and community,” Magnolia said of the space on Instagram.
Another photo uploaded to Instagram by the network shows a beautiful new dining area.
“@chipgaines and @joannagaines were honored to help transform a local girls’ emergency shelter into a space made for comfort + community,” Magnolia shared.
Joanna added, “We believe the girls in this home have the ability to change the world and we will be cheering them on as they go out and do just that.”
