Regent University to Host National Collegiate Day of Prayer
Regent University, the Christian school founded by Pat Robertson with a mission of training Christians to become earth-shakers and change-makers, is going to host the National Collegiate Day of Prayer on Thursday at 8 pm tonight via livestream.
The event will reportedly take place on over 4,000 campuses nationwide and will include intercessory prayer, worship and have multiple speakers.
Regent University’s executive vice president for Academic Affairs, Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riano, told CBN News that “some of the greatest revivals in our country began in college campuses. And we think universities are pivotal to the future of our country and its students are pivotal obviously. So we want to pray for the Lord to do a great work in the hearts and minds of all of us and in our students, faculty, and staff throughout America.”
Additionally, Dr. Bakke weighed in on the importance of an active Christianity that works through prayer, stating that “a humble recognition of great need combined with great faith in Christ always awakens united prayer.”
Evangelist Lou Engle, the founder of The Call, added that he believes “God is stirring up a movement of prayer across America that will release a great awakening and an unprecedented harvest of souls. The Collegiate Day of Prayer is one of these national movements. More than a meeting and more than an event, the Collegiate Day of Prayer is a call to the body of Christ to stand in prayer for the college campuses of our nation and the future of the next generation.”
The National Day of Prayer is based on 2 Chronicles 7:14, which calls on a country to pray and stop doing evil so that God will hear them and heal their land.
Prayer is the first step, but, as renowned evangelist Billy Graham noted in a sermon to London on 2 Chronicles 7:14, Christians also need to have an “earnest contending for the faith.” Graham also noted that much of the revival that happened in London was because Christians “stood together unitedly in the face of opposition.”
