Progressive Minister Suggests Jesus Repented of Racism in Popular TikTok Video
One progressive, homosexual minister recently faced backlash after suggesting that the Lord Jesus Christ committed racism and later repented.
Reverend Brandan Robertson, an author and theologian, posted a Tik Tok video on Saturday titled “Jesus a Racist?” In the video, Robertson spoke about Jesus’ encounter with the Syrophoenician woman who asked Christ to heal her daughter from a demon (Mark 7:24-30).
“Did you know that there’s a part of the Gospel of Mark where Jesus uses a racial slur?” Roberson asks at the start of the video.
He then explains how there were “strong biases within the Jewish community”, especially against the woman, who is Syrian and Greek.
In response to her request to heal her daughter of demon possession, Jesus said “it’s not good for me to give the children’s food – meaning the children of Israel’s food – to dogs.”
“He calls her a dog,” Robertson asserts.” What’s amazing about this account is that the woman doesn’t back down. She speaks truth to power, she confronts Jesus and says, ‘Well you can think that about me but even dogs deserve the crumbs from the table.’
“Her boldness and bravery to speak truth to power actually changes Jesus’ mind. Jesus repents of His racism and extends healing to this woman’s daughter,” he continued.
“I love this story because it’s a reminder that Jesus is human,” Robertson said at the conclusion of the video. “He had prejudices and bias. And when confronted with it, He was willing to do His work. And this woman was willing to stand up and speak truth.”

According to Disern.com, Rod Dreher, the author of the book Live Not by Lies: A Manual for Christian Dissidents, said that Robertson’s claim to Christ sinning ultimately destroys Christianity altogether.
“Woke gay pastor Brandan Robertson doesn’t seem to understand that if Jesus Christ, God incarnate, committed sin, then Christianity falls apart,” Dreher tweeted in response to the video. “Then again, he’s probably not terribly interested in Christianity in the first place.”
According to Robertson’s website, he has written 12 books on “spirituality, justice, and theology” and is considered to be “a trusted voice on progressive faith and politics.” Robertson, 28, has spoken at renowned institutions across the world, including The White House, Oxford University, and The Parliament of the World’s Religions.
He also served as the Senior Pastor of Mission Gathering Christian Church in San Diego, CA from 2017-2021.
