Donald Trump Criticizes President Biden’s Handling of the Border Crisis

Former President Donald Trump called President Joe Biden’s response to the border crisis a “national disaster.”

According to Fox News, in a statement released this weekend, Trump pointed to Biden’s administration for mishandling the problems at the border, where the Customs and Border Protection facilities are operating beyond capacity.

“We proudly handed the Biden Administration the most secure border in history,” the statement from Trump reads. ” All they had to do was keep this smooth-running system on autopilot.  Instead, in the span of just a few weeks, the Biden Administration has turned a national triumph into a national disaster. They are in way over their heads and taking on water fast.”

Biden said Sunday he will travel to the border “at some point.”

“I know what’s going on in those facilities,” he said.

Previously, Biden has said that he has a plan for undocumented migrants to gain citizenship to the United States.

According to CBP, more than 100,000 migrants came to the border in February, and the government has been working to increase the capacity of facilities to house them.

Trump also called the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas handling the situation as a “pathetic” and “clueless” performance.

“It’s clear they are engaged in a huge cover-up to hide just how bad things truly are,” the statement from Trump said. “The only way to end the Biden Border Crisis is for them to admit their total failure and adopt the profoundly effective, proven Trump policies.”

He also encouraged Biden to finish building the U.S.-Mexico border wall, which he says can be completed in a few weeks.

“They should never have stopped it,” he said. “They are causing death and human tragedy.”

As of mid-March, more than 3,600 migrant children were being held in U.S. border detention centers. Meanwhile, the HHS refugee office had about 8,800 unaccompanied minors in custody.
