Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Says He May Consider Running for President
Popular actor and former WWE star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has recently considered the possibility of running for president of the United States.
Johnson, 48, who has starred in films such as Fast and The Furious and Jumanji, told host William Geist of the Today show that he will run if that’s what the American people ultimately want.
“I do have that goal to unite our country,” Johnson explained. “I also feel that, if this is what the people want, then I will do that.”
“I am passionate about making sure that our country is united because a united country, as we know, is the strongest, and I want to see that for our country,” he continued.
A recent study published by Newsweek found that 46 percent of Americans want the wrestler-turned-actor to run for president.
In response to the study, Johnson tweeted: “Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick-up truck driving, fanny pack-wearing guy joining their club – but if it ever happens, it’d be my honor to serve the people.”

In February, NBC premiered a new sitcom, Young Rock, based on Johnson’s life, USA Today reports.
Johnson, who plays himself in the show, is coincidentally running as a presidential candidate in the 2032 election, as he recalls several periods of his life to a journalist in an interview.
This isn’t the first time Johnson has considered running for office. In 2017, he told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres he was “seriously considering a run” and has still not ruled out the possibility.
“I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted,” he told USA Today. “Truly, I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people. … So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
During the 2020 election, Johnson, who labels himself a “centrist”, publicly endorsed now-President and Vice President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, respectively.
