Redefining Biological Sex Is Replacing Humanity With A False Utopia

On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Margaret Harper McCarthy, an associate professor of theological anthropology at the John Paul II Institute for Studies in Marriage and the Family at Catholic University, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss her recent Wall Street Journal article that argues “The Equality Act Is at War With Reality.”

“This demand of the right of a child to be, who is a boy, now to be called girl … what’s really at stake is much more than his so-called right to be called a girl,” McCarthy said.

“The requirement that everyone rewire their brains, rewire their whole relation to the world, it basically requires everyone to live for all public and practical purposes in spite of all the visible evidence the contrary, as if their pre-ideological experience of a reality were officially false and what is patently false officially true. That’s what’s at stake,” she said.

McCarthy explained how this thinking stems from more than 400 years of modern thinkers who had a “general attitude of taking a distance from ordinary experiences that we have and … reconceiving them top-down.”

“Modern ideology is preventing us from seeing us, what stands before us, you know, the human nature that’s right in front of our eyes, and replaces it with a kind of utopian ideal of humanity, but not the one that actually exists with all of its uncontrollable unpredictability,” McCarthy said.
