Campos-Duffy Slams Kamala Harris For Border Absence, Says Media Giving Her ‘Free Pass’
Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy said Friday the unaccompanied migrant minors at the border are “being used as pawns” and Vice President Kamala Harris has been absent from the border because “she doesn’t want to have her fingerprints on it.”
“Just remember when Ted Cruz went to Cancun when he was supposed to — they said he was supposed to be in Texas during that emergency. And by the way, he was a federal legislator who couldn’t do anything about it,” Campos-Duffy said. “This is Kamala Harris’ job, and the media is giving her such a free pass and the American people are seeing it, at least those who are watching our channel.”
Harris, who was appointed in March by the president to be the diplomatic liaison with Northern Triangle nations and Mexico, met virtually with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador Friday. The vice president, however, has yet to visit the border.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned Friday that migrant kids are crossing the border in the hundreds and “the challenge remains.” In March, more than 172,000 migrants were encountered at the border.
More than 22,000 unaccompanied minors are in U.S. custody, and 97 percent are being housed in Department of Health and Human Services shelters. The Biden administration has selected various cities across the country to keep the kids, and it was reported Friday Greensboro, North Carolina could be the next destination.
“I’ll tell you, everybody else watching other channels are not seeing the images that we’re seeing. They have moved on beyond this crisis a couple of weeks ago on the other channels, but this is happening and the children are the victims, child trafficking remains a major problem, and they have their hands and their fingerprints on all of this distress and all of the things that are happening to these children. It is very, very sad,” Campos-Duffy said.
