IDF strikes Hamas intelligence compound in Gaza as Israel defends targets
“This once again proves how Hamas purposely builds its military assets in the heart of civilian populations,” the IDF said, adding that the “IDF has taken precautions to ensure minimizing damage to civilian population.”The airstrike on the Hamas targets came as rocket sirens continued to blare throughout the night in Ashkelon and Beersheba, with two separate barrages being aimed at each city.IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman deflected criticism of the military’s actions in the Gaza Strip on Sunday and particularly the bombing of a building with media offices on Saturday.
As of Sunday, 26 Gazans died from IDF strikes in Gaza, with 174 total since the escalations began last week. Some 2,900 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel since the beginning of the operation dubbed by the military as “Guardians of the Walls,” of which some 450 fell inside the enclave. The Iron Dome intercepted some 1,150 rockets.
