Ken Starr On Standing Up For Religious Liberty In An Age Of Uncertainty

On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, former U.S. Solicitor General and current counsel to the Lanier Law Firm Ken Starr joins Staff Writer Jordan Davidson to discuss his new book “Religious Liberty in Crisis: Exercising Your Faith In An Age Of Uncertainty” and how Americans of faith should handle the left’s attack on religious liberty.

“We have a very strong and dominant gene in our American cultural system and that is freedom,” Starr said. “Dr. King: let freedom ring. Abraham Lincoln: a new birth of freedom. That’s who we are, but the culture in many significant respects is moving away from that.”

The biggest problem facing supporters of religious liberty, Starr said, is “the idea that religion is a bad thing, and we need to do everything we can to cabin it.”

“That is a broad cultural mood these days and the political mood,” he said.

Even those who don’t consider themselves to be people of faith can take charge and ensure that religious liberty and other American liberties are protected, Starr said, especially in the courts.

“There are a number of these groups and organizations, and more are forming. And the ones that exist are growing to stand up for freedom and to be counted in this now growing and deepening battle for religious freedom in the United States,” Starr concluded.
