Jesus' Coming Back

America’s Fertility Crisis Is Rooted In Our Devaluing Of Motherhood

On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Rebeccah Heinrichs, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and Federalist contributor, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss her recent American Mind article “Baby Bust” and how America’s fertility crisis “signals a psychological cost for women.”

“We really need to get back to honoring and valuing motherhood and telling young women that they can stay home and have babies if that is really what they have a strong desire to do and that they’re not going to be wasting their time, talents, and education if they do that,” Heinrichs explained.

Women and men both are often fed narratives encouraging them to shun their natural inclinations but Heinrichs said embracing those instincts is key.

“We’ve really pitted men and women against one another,” Heinrichs said. “That’s what this new kind of feminism has done and it’s left no place for men to be their natural selves or for women to embrace their natural selves.”
