Ron DeSantis Sends Florida Law Enforcement To Aid Texas, Arizona At Southern Border

Gov. Ron DeSantis pledged to send Florida law enforcement to the southern border in response to calls for help from Texas and Arizona as they try to manage the record-breaking number flow of migrants.

Florida law enforcement officials including Highway Patrol, nine different sheriff’s departments, and members of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, will travel to the southernmost counties of Texas and Arizona to secure the border.

Govs. Ducey of Arizona and Abbott of Texas beckoned for help from other states, writing “Given the staggering number of violations now occurring in Texas and Arizona, additional manpower is needed from any state that can spare it. With your help, we can apprehend more of these perpetrators of state and federal crimes, before they can cause problems in your state.”

Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody supported DeSantis’s decision, saying Biden’s border crisis “makes all of us less safe,” and that she is “dedicated to ending human trafficking, protecting our children from sexual predators, and fighting the opioid crisis now claiming 21 lives a day in our state.”

DeSantis’s response to Texas and Arizona comes just days after Vice President Kamala Harris laughed off NBC’s Lester Holt when he asked her why she had yet to visit the sourther border. She mockingly responded saying, “And I haven’t been to Europe.”

Democrats have also recently blocked a GOP-backed bill that would have compelled Harris to visit the border, all while Biden’s approach has led to record high apprehensions and a surge in drug seizures.
