Large explosion heard in Tehran

 A large explosion has been heard in Tehran, Iran, according to Iranian Fars News agency.Tehran’s fire department head said that they “have not received any reports regarding an explosion,” reports Fars News, although they reportedly clarified that fire and rescue teams had been sent to the area in the north of the Iranian capital.Unconfirmed reports have placed the explosion close to a building inside Mellat Park, where television and radio stations run by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting have their headquarters


Hamidreza Goudarzi, the Deputy Security Chief for Tehran Province has been quoted by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News saying that the incident is under investigation and it was unclear at this time what caused it, and it is unknown as of right now if it was an act of terrorism or not.Iranian media has reported that there were no casualties at the scene of the explosion.The explosion happened several hours after a large-scale cyberattack across Iran, with hackers posting the phone number of the country’s supreme leader as the number to call for information for train delays. Source
