Megachurch Pastor Miles McPherson Asks for Prayers as Wife Suffers from COVID-19 Complications

A California megachurch pastor is calling for prayers after his wife was hospitalized due to complications from COVID-19.

Pastor Miles McPherson, who leads the Rock Church in San Diego, made an emotional plea to his Instagram followers on Sunday and called for prayers for his wife, Debbi.

“Thank you so much for praying for my wife. She’s definitely had improvement in her appetite. She’s eating,” McPherson said. “She hasn’t had a fever for a couple of days which is amazing. She’s had one for every day for like 10. The nausea went away now it’s back, so … pray it goes away for good.”

“Her breathing is still struggling, so we just ask that you continue to pray for her lungs that they would heal,” he continued. “That’s what we’re waiting on, that she’d come home, and her lungs are healed enough for her to breath[e] on her own.”

According to The Christian Post, McPherson first shared the news of his wife’s hospitalization in an Instagram post on Friday. In the post, he asked his followers to Debbie up in prayer.

“You know, I’ve been in ministry for a long time, and I’ve seen so many people get help, and I just want you to pray for my wife, Debbie, that God would heal her and bring her home,” he said in a separate post. “God knows all the details about her health. I just pray that he’ll bring her home and that she’ll be able to breathe on her own.”

In May, McPherson’s church had suspended its indoor worship services at nearly all its campuses after several staff members contracted COVID-19. The church had just reopened its doors in April for the first time since the pandemic began.

McPherson, who is also a motivational speaker and former NFL player, has served as senior pastor of the Rock Church since 2000.
