Pro-Life Leaders Hopeful that Roe v. Wade Will Soon Be Overturned
The contributions of one pro-life organization and the growth of pregnancy centers in America has pro-life leaders believing that the end of legalized abortion is near.
The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NFLA), which was founded in 1993, has played a vital role in the pro-life movement as the group has provided legal support to more than 1,600 pregnancy centers in America. The group has also supported the use of ultrasounds in medical clinics.
NIFLA president Tom Glessner explained to CBN News that over 1,300 pro-life medical clinics were also given ultrasound machines, leading to many pregnant women changing their minds about abortion.
“An abortion-minded mother comes in, she’s been told it’s a blob of tissue, she sees the ultrasound and bingo,” he noted. “We’ve seen huge numbers of mothers choose life because of that,” Glessner shared.
Regarding pro-life pregnancy centers, Alveda King, the niece of late civil activist Martin Luther King Jr. and an activist in her own right, described them as “the heart of the pro-life movement.”
Abby Johnson, an anti-abortion activist who formerly served as a clinic director for Planned Parenthood, noted that there are nearly four times the number of pregnancy centers than abortion clinics in the U.S.
“Right now, I’m so hopeful,” Johnson said.
“Abortion clinics are closing down year after year,” she added. “Culture is changing. Young people’s minds are changing.”
With the growing efforts of the pro-life movement, plus the conservative majority of Supreme Court justices, many pro-lifers are contending that it is time for Roe V. Wade to be overturned.
“It just seems like everything is coming together at the right time,” Glessner explained. “We have six potential justices on that court who could vote to overturn Roe.”
Last month, as Christian Headlines reported, Mississippi called on the Supreme Court to overrule Roe V. Wade as the justices will consider the constitutionality of a state law prohibiting abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
“And if the court votes not to actually overturn Roe, if they uphold the Mississippi law, Roe’s dead,” Glessner added.
If Roe V. Wade is overturned, however, King said that it would be a huge answer to prayer.
“My prayer in the pro-life movement is that people would wake up,” King said. “That the eyes of the nation and the world will open and realize that life is sacred from the womb to tomb and that there are life-affirming solutions that do not require that we kill the youngest, the weakest, and most innocent, the babies in the womb.
“I pray that we wake up, open our eyes and choose life,” she asserted.
