Christian Aid Ministries Holds Another ‘Special Day of Prayer and Fasting’ for Kidnapped Missionaries in Haiti

On Thursday, more than a month after a local gang abducted 17 missionaries in Haiti, the Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries held another “special day of prayer and fasting” for their taken workers.

The missionaries, sent to Haiti through Christian Aid Ministries, were kidnapped on October 16 by the 400 Mawozo gang after visiting an orphanage. Sixteen of the missionaries are American, and one is Canadian.

“This is the 33rd day since our workers were kidnapped in Haiti. Tomorrow (November 18), we plan to have another special day of prayer and fasting,” the international ministry shared in an update Wednesday afternoon, according to The Christian Post.

“We invite believers around the world to join us in seeking God for His mighty hand to work. We request ongoing prayer for those being held, the families of the hostages, government officials who are assisting, and the kidnappers themselves. ‘Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite,'” the statement concluded, citing from Psalm 147:5.

The prayer request comes a week after an unnamed Biden administration official confirmed that at least some of the kidnapped missionaries are still alive.

In a video circulating social media, the gang’s leader, Wilson Joseph, threatened to kill the missionaries if his ransom request of $17 million was not met.

“I swear by thunder that if I don’t get what I’m asking for, I will put a bullet in the heads of these Americans,” he said in the video.

Last Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy in Haiti announced that the U.S. State Department is urging Americans in Haiti to leave the Caribbean nation amid rising violence.

“The Department of State urges U.S. citizens to make plans to depart Haiti now via commercial means. U.S. citizens should carefully consider the risks of traveling to or remaining in Haiti in light of the current security situation and infrastructure challenges,” a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Haiti reads.
