Some Are Calling Sweden’s COVID-19 Microchip Implant a Precursor to the Mark of the Beast
A Swedish tech company has released a rice-sized microchip that can be implanted under the skin and used as a COVID-19 passport. Some in the Christian community are calling the microchip a precursor to the mark of the beast, which is foretold in the book of Revelation.
The microchip was featured in a Twitter video by the South China Post on Friday. The video has since been viewed over 2.4 million times.

According to The Christian Post, Epicenter, a Stockholm-based company, is responsible for the technology behind the chip implants.
On Dec. 1, the Swedish government announced a vaccine mandate for in-person events with over 100 people.
Since 2014, the European country has introduced hand-inserted chip implants that can be used as credit cards, keys, IDs, and train tickets.
“Implants are a very versatile technology that can be used for many different things,” Epicenter’s Chief Disruption Officer, Hannes Sjoblad, said in the video. “Right now, it’s very convenient to have COVID passports always accessible on your implant.”
According to digital cultures researcher Moa Petersen, about 6,000 Swedes have had the chip implanted into their hands so far.
In response to the video, some Twitter users commented: “666” and “the Mark of the Beast,” which is in reference to the apostle John’s prophecy in Revelation 13:15-17.
The Scripture reads as follows: “The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.”
Swedish people aren’t the only ones using microchips in their hands. In 2017, the Wisconsin-based company called Three Square Market voluntarily allowed their employees to use chip implants for credit cards.
Last week, social media erupted with controversy after the United Nations featured a sculpture closely resembling the end times beast in Daniel and Revelation.
