Comedian, Full House Actor Bob Saget Dies Unexpectedly

Bob Saget, an American stand-up comedian and actor, was found dead in a Florida hotel room on Sunday. Saget, best known for his role as Danny Tanner in the 1990s sitcom Full House, was 65.

Saget had recently kicked off his I Don’t Do Negative comedy tour and was staying at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando over the weekend when local authorities found his body in his hotel room.

“Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room. The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office tweeted Sunday evening.

“Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”

Saget rose to prominence for his starring role in Full House. Saget played Danny Tanner, a widowed father of three young daughters who invites his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (played by John Stamos) and best friend, Joey Gladstone (played by Dave Coulier) to help him raise his girls. The show ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. When the show wrapped, a total of 192 episodes were made.

Saget reprised the role in the sequel series, Fuller House, which ran on Netflix for five seasons from 2016 to 2020.

Following the announcement of the late actor’s sudden death, tributes began to pour in.

“I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby,” Stamos wrote on Twitter.

Coulier posted a photo of the two together on Instagram, captioning it, “I’ll never let go, brother. Love you.”

Cameron Candace Bure, who played D.J. Tanner, Saget’s oldest daughter, on Full House, also paid tribute to her fallen TV family member.

“I love you sooooo much. I don’t want to say goodbye. 35 years wasn’t long enough,” she said in a post on Instagram, which included photos of her and Saget.

In addition to Full House, Saget was the original host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. He hosted the show from 1989 to 1997. He was also nominated for a Grammy for his 2014 comedy album, That’s What I’m Talking About.

Saget is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, whom he married in 2018, his three adult daughters and their mother, his ex-wife Sherri Kramer.

“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today,” the Saget family said in the statement. “He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter.”

Saget’s cause of death has not been released at this time.
