‘Please Pray’: Anne Graham Lotz’s Daughter Hospitalized after Suffering Two Heart Attacks

Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of the late evangelist Billy Graham, is asking for prayers after her daughter, Rachel-Ruth, suffered two heart attacks over the weekend.

“Multiple times I have prayed Psalm 73:26 for people who were struggling with heart issues: My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever,” Lotz wrote on Facebook Tuesday.

“I am now driving the stake of my faith down deep into this promise for my daughter, Rachel-Ruth,” she continued. “She was rushed to the hospital on Saturday night with a heart attack, followed by a catheterization. Sunday afternoon, she had a second heart attack, followed by another catheterization.”

Lotz noted that her daughter’s heart had no blockages that are typical causes of “traditional style heart attacks.” According to a doctor, Rachel-Ruth has a rare condition known as “broken heart syndrome,” which has no known cause.

In the post, Lotz shared that her daughter is still in the hospital and will remain there for several more days while doctors continue to run tests.

“I am urgently asking you to join my family in praying for Rachel-Ruth,” Lotz stressed. “Please pray for her heart to stabilize; for accurate diagnosis and treatment; for the doctor’s supernatural wisdom; for peace and comfort for all of us.”

“The lead verse in today’s Daily Light from Psalm 103 was very encouraging … Bless the Lord, O my soul … Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,” she concluded.

Evangelist Franklin Graham, Lotz’s brother, also asked for prayers for his niece on social media.

“Please join me in praying for my sister Anne Graham Lotz’s daughter, Rachel-Ruth,” he wrote. He also shared Lotz’s post.

Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, battled his own heart issues late last year. In November, he underwent surgery for constrictive pericarditis back.

Last July, Lotz’s son, Jonathan Lotz, was hospitalized in critical condition after battling pneumonia and what was believed to be the delta variant of COVID-19. After spending eight days in the ICU, he was released.
