Christians, Pro-Life Advocates Condemn Senator Raphael Warnock for Calling Himself a ‘Pro-Choice Pastor’
Christian leaders and pro-life advocates are condemning Senator Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) for describing himself as a “pro-choice” pastor.
“As a pro-choice pastor, I’ve always believed that a patient’s room is way too small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government,” Warnock, the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, tweeted on Saturday.

Warnock’s remarks provoked widespread backlash across social media.
“You can be pro-choice or a faithful pastor, but you cannot be both,” podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey replied. “Of course, Warnock’s much bigger problem is not his views on abortion, but his views on the gospel, which I very much doubt he could correctly articulate if he tried.”

The ministry End Abortion Now, a branch of the Apologia Church Ministry, tweeted, “A ‘Pro-Choice Pastor’ is nothing more than a servant of Satan.”

“That room includes a child. And that child deserves to live,” wrote Lila Rose, the founder and president of the pro-life group, Live Action.

Benjamin Watson, a former NFL player, responded to Warnock’s tweets by citing the Human Coalition, a pro-life organization, which claims that 76 percent of women seeking abortions who connect with the group say they would “prefer to parent” if their circumstances were changed.
“A pastor knows the value of human life,” Watson contended, according to CBN News. “A senator knows how to support mother AND child. Sir, you know better. Stop being scared.”
“Be careful when someone emphasizes their position in the church before stating what THEY have always believed NOT what God’s Word says,” he added. “They’ve sacrificed moral credibility to accrue power and used their religious position as cover for an agenda. It does not have to be this way.”

Kelvin King, a Republican running to unseat Warnock this year, argued that the Democratic lawmaker’s pro-choice stance is “out of line with Georgia values” and not “congruent with the Word” he claims to believe.
“He actually supports pro-choice initiatives when it comes to abortion, and that’s not really something that we can get behind as believers,” King told The Daily Wire in a recent interview.
“He’s a pastor of a church, and he’s pro-choice; I don’t see how that’s congruent with the Word,” he added.
When Warnock was running for the Senate in late 2020, he also sparked pushback for calling himself a “pro-choice pastor.”
