Anne Graham Lotz’s Daughter to Enter Rehab following ‘Life-Threatening’ Cardiac Episodes

On Wednesday, evangelist Anne Graham Lotz announced that her daughter, Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright, has registered for cardiac rehab after suffering two heart attacks last month.

“It has been pure joy for my daughter Morrow and me to come alongside Rachel-Ruth during her recent life-threatening double heart-attacks,” Lotz wrote on Facebook.

“This morning [Rachel-Ruth] registered for cardiac rehab, a critical first step towards recovery. Thank you for continuing to pray for all of us in this faith-stretching journey,” Lotz, the founder and president of AnGel Ministries, added.

Lotz concluded her post by thanking her followers for their continued prayers “in this faith-stretching journey” and asked for more prayers over her daughter’s recovery.

“Please pray for Rachel-Ruth’s restoration to full health and strength with no set-backs or complications. And praise God with us: ‘The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me … (Psalm 28:7)’,” she concluded.

According to The Roys Report, Wright enrolled in a cardiac rehabilitation program at North Carolina Heart and Vascular Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In early January, Wright suffered from two back-to-back heart attacks. Lotz, who offered periodic updates on her daughter’s condition on social media, said that Wright was initially diagnosed with Broken Heart Syndrome but later clarified that the heart attacks were caused by  Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD).

According to Mayo Clinic, SCAD is described as “an emergency condition that occurs when a tear forms in a blood vessel in the heart.” SCAD, which often affects women in their 40s and 50s, can delay or restrict blood to the heart, resulting in a heart attack, heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias) or sudden death. The condition can also occur in men.

Further, people with SCAD are not usually at risk of heart disease, namely high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes.

After being hospitalized for a week, Wright was discharged and spent the next two weeks recovering at home.

Wright, the granddaughter of the late evangelist Billy Graham, serves on the board of directors of AnGel Ministries. She also leads an online women’s Bible study, where she had been covering the book of Genesis up until her heart attacks.

Together with her mother, Wright released her first book, Jesus Followers.

Wright is married to her husband, Steven, and they have three daughters together.
