Jesus' Coming Back

‘Nanci Is with Jesus’: Wife of Christian Author Randy Alcorn Passes Away from Cancer

The wife of bestselling Christian author Randy Alcorn has passed away after a years-long battle with cancer.

Alcorn, who has authored over 50 books and serves as the founder of the Eternal Perspective Ministries, first broke the news of his wife Nanci’s passing on social media on Monday evening.

“Nanci is with Jesus. So happy for her. Sad for us. But the happiness for her triumphs over the sadness,” Alcorn tweeted. “Grieving is ahead, and it will be hard, but these last years and especially this last month have given us a headstart on the grieving process.”

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Nanci had been battling cancer for several years after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. Last week, Alcorn said his wife told him she felt like her life was coming to an end. Her hospice nurse confirmed her feeling, telling Alcorn that Nanci likely had less than a week to live.

“I am so proud of my wife for her dependence on Jesus and her absolute trust in the sovereign plan and love of God. Nanci is and always will be an inspiration to me,” Alcorn wrote.

“I am with family and friends now, thanking God for His grace and the promises of Jesus that we will live with Him forever in a world without the curse, and He will wipe away all the tears and all the reasons for the tears,” he continued.

Alcorn told his followers that “all God’s children really live happily ever after” since they have the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.”

“This is not a fairytale, it is the blood-bought promise of Jesus,” he contended. “What a great and kind God He is. As of a few hours ago, Nanci now lives where she sees this firsthand, in the place where Joy truly is the air she breathes.”

Towards the end of his post, Alcorn cited Psalm 16:11 and thanked those who prayed for Nanci over the years. The Scripture reads, “In your presence is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

“Thank you so much for all your prayers, some of you for four years of praying consistently for Nanci. My heart is full of gratitude to you,” he said. “Don’t feel your prayers were not answered, Many of them were, and many others were answered in a better way than we could ever ask.”

“Overwhelmed with gratitude to the One full of grace and truth,” he concluded.

According to the Eternal Perspective Ministries website, Randy and Nanci had been married since 1975. Nanci, along with her husband, served on the ministry’s board. Together they had two daughters and five grandsons.

In a post on Facebook, Eternal Perspective Ministries announced that they had set up an online fundraiser in her honor. The funds will be used to support ministries that Nanci had considered “dear to her heart.”
