Chick-fil-A Is America’s Favorite Restaurant for the 8th Straight Year: Survey

For the eighth straight year, Chick-fil-A – a company founded on biblical principles – is America’s favorite restaurant.

Chick-fil-A topped this year’s American Customer Satisfaction Index Restaurant Study with a score of 83, the same score it tallied last year. It has led the survey for eight consecutive years.

The report was based on interviews with 20,143 customers chosen at random. Interviews took place in March and April.

Trailing Chick-fil-A among fast-food restaurants were Jimmy John’s (79), Domino’s (78), KFC (78), Chipotle (77), Panera Bread (77), Pizza Hut (77) and Starbucks (77). McDonald’s, with a score of 68, finished last among fast-food restaurants.

Chick-fil-A’s score (83) also was higher than the survey’s full-service restaurants list, which was led by LongHorn Steakhouse (80) and Texas Roadhouse (80). Cracker Barrel (78) and Fridays (78) finished tied for third in the full-service category.

Founded by Christian businessman Truett Cathy in 1946, Chick-fil-A’s purpose statement is to “glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us” and to “have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A,” according to its website.

“Truett based his business on Biblical principles that he believed were also good business principles, and since 1982, our Corporate Purpose has guided all that we do,” the website says. “We keep our Purpose front and center because it helps us to steward our business and our work to positively influence everyone we meet.”

Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays.

“Our founder S. Truett Cathy made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia,” Chick-fil-A’s website says. “Having worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours, Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest or worship if they choose, a practice we uphold today.”
