Ron DeSantis Encourages Supporters to ‘Put on the Full Armor of God’ in Battle against Political Left

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) urged supporters over the weekend to “put on the full armor of God” in the continued battle against the political left.

“You got to be ready for battle, so put on the full armor of God. Take a stand against the left’s schemes. Stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. You will face fire from flaming arrows, but the shield of faith will protect you,” DeSantis told attendees at the Victory Dinner of the Sunshine Summit on Saturday evening in Hollywood, Florida.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, DeSantis made similar comments during a speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February.

“We need people all over the country to be willing to put on that full armor of God to stand firm against the left,” he told attendees. “I can tell you this: In Florida, we will be standing our ground. We will be holding that line. We are not going to back down. … We have only begun to fight.”

DeSantis, considered a top candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, took shots at President Joe Biden last week over his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, where he urged leaders to produce more oil amid increased gas prices across the U.S.

“How come it’s wrong to produce our own oil and gas here, but you can go to Saudi Arabia and fist bump to try to get it from Saudi?” the Republican governor asked. “I mean, it makes no sense that we wouldn’t do it. We have opportunities here to be energy independent and not have to worry about any of these other countries. And yet, they’re intentionally not doing it, and you can’t run a modern economy on windmills. You just can’t do it.”

Biden, who is currently recovering from COVID-19, was widely criticized on Monday for taking credit in a Tweet for the recently declining gas prices despite not previously taking responsibility for the price hike.

“This is an insane tweet in that Biden has spent months claiming he doesn’t control gas prices yet now wants to claim victory and that the price of gas is still almost double what it was when he took office,” wrote Twitter user The Wokest Numbersmuncher in response to Biden’s tweet.

“Spiking the football on this feels like a stupendously terrible idea.”

Ever since Biden took office in January 2021, there has been a twofold increase in the price of gas per gallon, Faithwire reports.
