FBI Searches Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Home as Part of Records Probe
On Monday, FBI agents searched former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, for classified documents Trump allegedly took from the White House upon leaving office.
The search at Trump’s house was conducted Monday morning while the former president was in New York. Shortly after FBI agents looked through his home, Trump issued a statement condemning the action, saying it was “not necessary or appropriate.”
“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before,” Trump said.
“It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for president in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections,” he argued.
Trump added that the search was something that would only take place in “broken, third-world countries” and insisted that America “has become one of those countries.”
“They even broke into my safe,” he added.

As reported by Reuters, the FBI search was part of an investigation into Trump’s alleged removal of classified records from the White House after his term in office. It is one of several investigations he is currently facing. He has also been at the center of the recent hearings on the January 6, 2021, incident at the U.S. Capitol.
During a meeting with U.S. lawmakers in February, Archivist David Ferriero confirmed that the National Archives and Records Administration had been in touch with Trump throughout 2021 about returning 15 boxes of records, which he gave back in January 2022.
Eric Trump, one of Trump’s adult children, acknowledged that his father took boxes of documents from the White House and that he had been cooperating with the National Archives for several months.
Meanwhile, Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, told Fox News that the former president only took items he was legally authorized to take.
“Look, my father-in-law as anybody knows who’s been around him a lot loves to save things like newspaper clippings, magazine clippings, photographs, documents that he had every authority to take from the White House,” she said.
The search was condemned by Trump’s supporters, who argued that it was the Democrats’ attempt to weaponize the FBI and target the 45th president. Many of Trump’s supporters also gathered outside near his Palm Beach home, as some honked from their cars, played music, and waved Trump and American flags.
