Family Requests ‘Prayer Army’ after Little Leaguer Falls from Bunk, Injures Head

Family members and friends of a 12-year-old Little League World Series player are requesting prayer after he was critically injured after falling from his top bunk during sleep.

Easton Oliverson of the Snow Canyon Little League baseball team was life-flighted to a Pennsylvania hospital on Sunday with a serious head injury that occurred when he fell several feet from the top of his bunk bed as he slept.

Doctors were able to stop the bleeding and stabilize him, yet still considered him to be in critical condition with a fractured skull. They also inserted a breathing tube and feeding tube.

His team was the first team from Utah ever to advance to the Little League World Series, which is held annually in Williamsport, Pa. The team is from Santa Clara, Utah.

On a newly launched Instagram page, supporters said his condition is improving. His breathing tube has been removed.

“The prayers are working! Please keep them coming,” the post said. “We love you all!”

On Wednesday afternoon, supporters posted another update, saying he is “no longer sedated” and has “starting to wake up more.”

“He asked for water this morning,” the post said. “The doctors said that this is good because it usually takes a week or two for patient’s to usually have the desire to eat or drink after having gotten their breathing tube out! I don’t think we can emphasize enough how grateful we are for the love, support, and prayers.”

His father, Jace Oliverson, said Easton is making “tremendous” progress but “still has a very long road ahead.”

“We are asking for you to continue to send prayers,” the post said. “We know that Easton is capable, but with his prayer army behind him – he can be unstoppable!”

Los Angeles Dodger star Mookie Betts also recorded a message of support for the youngster.

One of his teammates heard Easton fall during the night and sought help.

“Had that other player not been wakened by him falling, he may not have made it,” Spencer Beck, his uncle, told the Salt Lake Tribune.

Supporters also have launched a Venmo fundraiser: @MiraclesForTank.
