California Launches $1 Million Website Promoting its Abortion Services
California launched a publicly funded website earlier this week to promote the state’s abortion services for undocumented immigrants and U.S. citizens living inside and outside of California.
According to CBN News, the website officially went live on Tuesday after it was announced by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsome. The website features information on different types of abortion and how to obtain one.
The site also has a section for out-of-state residents and undocumented immigrants, explaining that federal policies keep immigration officials out of health care facilities. A list of clinics is included on the website, along with links to help with travel expenses and lodging. Additionally, there is a section informing teenagers in other states that they can get an abortion in California without parental consent.
There are 166 abortion clinics across California, including Planned Parenthood offices.
The website’s launch is part of Newsom’s plan to make California a sanctuary state for abortion in light of the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade, which sent the issue of abortion back to the states.
According to Bloomberg, Newsom has also placed billboard’s in several Republican states to promote the abortion website, including Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina and South Dakota.
“Just launched billboards in 7 of the most restrictive anti-abortion states that explain how women can access care – no matter where they live,” Newsom tweeted Thursday. “To any woman seeking an abortion in these anti-freedom states: CA will defend your right to make decisions about your own health.”

California has about $200 million of taxpayer money built into its budget to strengthen abortion access. The abortion website cost about $1 million to build.
Critics and pro-life advocates have denounced the state for using public funds to promote abortion services, arguing that California should instead use the money to focus on strengthening the state’s electrical grid and fighting the ongoing threat of wildfires.
