Woman Claims Georgia GOP Senatorial Candidate Herschel Walker Paid for Her to Have an abortion
A woman claims Herschel Walker, who is running for a seat in the Georgia senate, reimbursed her for an abortion in 2009 when she became pregnant by the former football star.
The woman, who has not been identified, told The Daily Beast that she and Walker dated in 2009, and when she became pregnant, he encouraged her to get an abortion.
The woman says she has a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a “get well” card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that includes an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker, the New York Times reports.
The woman said Walker paid more because she “ball-parked” the cost of an abortion and added on expenses such as travel and recovery costs.
“I just can’t with the hypocrisy anymore,” she said. “We all deserve better.”
Walker has denied the claims, calling the woman’s story “a flat out lie.” He has also promised to sue.
Walker, a Republican, has been vocal about his anti-abortion views. He endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) proposed 15-week national ban and has repeatedly said he supports a total national ban on abortion, including in cases of rape, incest and when the life of the mother is threatened.
Following Walker’s denial, his son, a 23-year-old conservative influencer, posted on social media, calling his father a liar, the Huffington Post reports.
“I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us,” he tweeted. “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over six times in six months running from your violence.”
“I don’t care about someone who has a bad past and takes accountability,” he added. “But how DARE YOU LIE and act as though you’re some ‘moral, Christian, upright man.’ You’ve lived a life of DESTROYING other people’s lives. How dare you.”
Walker responded in a tweet saying he “love(s) his son,” Politico reports.
Christian Walker’s mother, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, was married to Walker from 1983 to 2002. She has previously said that Walker was physically abusive during their relationship and described one incident in which she said he pointed a gun at her head and told her he was going to blow her “brains out.”
