Quote: “It is appropriate to organise defence along the barrier border of the Dnipro River, on its left bank…

The decision to defend the left bank of the Dnipro is not an easy one. At the same time, we will save the lives of our military and the combat capability of the troops…

The manoeuvre of the troops will be carried out as soon as possible. The troops will occupy the prepared defensive positions on the left bank of the Dnipro.”

Details: It is reported that Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was in favour of the proposal to organise defence along the Dnipro River: “Proceed with the withdrawal of troops.”

Surovikin also claimed that Ukraine had lost 9,500 soldiers in the battles for Kherson Oblast, whilst Russia’s losses were apparently 7-8 times less. —>READ MORE HERE

NY POST: Russia abandons Ukrainian city of Kherson in major retreat

Russian troops have been ordered to retreat from the key southern city of Kherson, in a devastating blow for Moscow after weeks of Ukrainian advances toward the city.

General Sergei Surovikin announced the move during televised remarks on Wednesday, saying it was no longer possible to keep Kherson city supplied.

According to Surovikin, Russian troops would be better utilized on the defensive lines on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River.

“I understand that this is a very difficult decision, but at the same time we will preserve the most important thing — the lives of our servicemen and, in general, the combat effectiveness of the group of troops, which it is futile to keep on the right bank in a limited area,” Surovikin said.

In recent weeks Ukrainian forces have advanced on the key city, causing Russia to race to relocate tens of thousands of its residents. —>READ MORE HERE
