Jesus' Coming Back

Dr. David Jeremiah, Turning Point Ministries to Release New Nativity Movie

Dr. David Jeremiah and his Turning Point Ministries are releasing a new film that will focus on the Nativity and Jesus’ birth.

The docudrama, titled Why the Nativity?, is based on Jeremiah’s book, Why the Nativity? 25 Compelling Reasons We Celebrate the Birth of Jesus. The film will highlight how God used people, events and locations surrounding Christ’s birth. It will also utilize the Old and New Testaments to answer questions about the Christmas story.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to bring the true story of Christmas to the world’s stage in an unprecedented and unparalleled fashion,” Dr. David Jeremiah said, according to Faithwire.

Turning Point Ministries produced the film on a custom-made set in San Diego County. The sets are of Bethlehem and the surrounding areas at the time of Jesus’ birth.

Why the Nativity? will also feature several reenactments, including Old Testament prophets foretelling Christ’s birth, the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary, Mary and Joseph journeying to Bethlehem, the star guiding the Wisemen to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus in a manger.

“From its inception, this unique production has been designed to be shared with the whole world, for everyone from all walks of life,” Jeremiah said. “We pray it becomes an instant Christmas classic with the longevity to reach new audiences with the timeless Gospel message for generations to come. And I’m confident this unforgettable journey through film will help the hope of Christmas jump out of the pages of the Bible.”

Turning Point Ministries chief creative officer and the film’s director and executive producer, Paul Joiner, told NRB that the film is accessible to everyone, not just those who already know about the Nativity.

“It’s about evangelism,” said Joiner. “People are open to hearing the Christmas story, so what an opportunity it is for us to say that Christmas is more than just the fun, food, and fellowship––it is about the salvation story. The gospel.”

“I believe the Christmas story is probably the most evangelistic message that one can bring to the world,” he added. “We often forget that Christmas is not about the pomp and circumstance; it’s about the best story that could ever be told.”

Why the Nativity? will be available to watch for free at davidjeremiah.org beginning Thanksgiving Day (November 24) and on Turning Point Television starting December 4. The film will also premiere at Regal LA Live Theater in Los Angeles on November 18 at 7 PM and again at Washington D.C.’s Museum of the Bible on December 2 at 7 PM.
