Pastors Launch Pastor Story Hours in Response to Nationwide Drag Queen Story Hours
Two pastors are countering the Drag Queen Story Hour events hosted throughout the nation by launching their own Pastor Story Hours.
Drag Queen Story Hour events feature library story times with reading done by local drag queens.
In response, Dale Partridge and Michael Foster are launching Pastor Story Hour, Faithwire reports. Partridge first came across the idea when he saw Foster post on Twitter that Christians should start an alternative effort in libraries. Partridge texted Foster to discuss the idea.
“I went down to the local library, and I scheduled a time to do Pastor Story Hour,” Partridge said. “It happened to work out because I just wrote a new book called, ‘Jesus and My Gender’ … a kid’s book that really amplified discussion.”
“I think the kids loved it, and a lot of the parents loved it,” Partridge said.
Partridge said he and Foster had a “big question” when it came to Drag Queen Story Hour: “Why [were] these drag queens more interested in influencing the kids in their community than pastors were [and] than the church was?”
“It’s an opportunity for us to be out there and lead the way,” Foster said. “These corrupting influences are out there … because we’re not pushing back on it. This is a very simple way … to push back on evil in our day,” Foster said. “It doesn’t have to be necessarily a Christian book with a Gospel message every single time,” he said. “It can just be an incredible story with a virtuous character that a pastor teaches.”
Partridge said he hopes other pastors or Christian leaders in the nation will decide to try their own story hours.
“It doesn’t have to be necessarily a Christian book with a Gospel message every single time,” he said. “It can just be an incredible story with a virtuous character that a pastor teaches.
“Passivity is not working,” he said.
