Kendrick Brothers Announce They’re Making a New Film in 2023: ‘We’re Gonna Keep Rolling’
Faith-based filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, fresh off the release of their eighth movie, say they plan on making films as long as God leads them and already have plans for a new title that will be produced in 2023.
In fact, the Kendricks are working on three projects, including a video curriculum for college students.
“As long as the Lord says keep rolling, we’re gonna keep rolling,” Alex Kendrick told Christian Headlines.
The Kendricks are known for such box-office hits as War Room, Courageous, and Overcomer. They will make a new film in 2023. Details of the film have not been released.
“We’re shooting next year,” Alex Kendrick told Christian Headlines. “And we’re very excited about [it].”
A second project involves a video curriculum for college students, Heart of a Filmmaker. The curriculum will teach students “what we’ve learned as Christian [filmmakers]” about how “to include the Lord’s principles and how we tell stories and make films.” The goal for filmmakers, Kendrick said, should not be to win awards.
“The goal is to be faithful with what God’s called you to do and the platform that you have to honor Him,” Kendrick said.
A third project involves the re-release of their first film, Flywheel (2003).
“Next year (2023) is the 20th anniversary of Flywheel … and we found software that will digitally upgrade and increase the quality of the image,” Kendrick said. “And so we’re going through and preparing that movie for a re-release for its 20th anniversary, but it will look much better. …. So if you liked Flywheel, hopefully, you’ll like it even more when the re-release comes.”
The Kendricks say they give God all the credit for their films’ success.
“I cannot deny that He led us in that direction, and He blessed our loaves and fish,” Kendrick added. “He’s getting the glory, we’re not getting the glory for it. … We commit it to Him. And we just trust Him with the results.”
They released their eighth film, Lifemark, in 2022.
