More Than 2,500 Show Up for Kirk Cameron’s Story Time Hour at Indianapolis Public Library

Thousands of people flocked to an Indianapolis public library for actor Kirk Cameron’s story time hour of his new children’s book.

“You guys! They’re gonna let me speak over the loudspeaker, the PA, because there’s about 1,000 people in the library on other floors that haven’t gotten up here, so I’m gonna be talking to everybody in just a few minutes, and I just wanna thank them for coming and thank you for coming and making this such a special event today!” Cameron told the crowd at the library Thursday, according to The Blaze.

The event comes after 50 libraries rejected Cameron’s request to host a story time hour of his new children’s book, As You Grow, which “teaches kids biblical wisdom, through the seasons of life and how to grow the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.” The book is published by Brave Books.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, the Indy Library and the Scarsdale Public Library in New York rescinded their rejection of Cameron’s book after the Growing pains star vowed to take the matter to court.

According to The Post Millennial, most of the libraries that rejected Cameron’s book have previously hosted Drag Queen Story Hours for children.

According to a tweet by Brave Books, more than 2,500 people showed up at the Indy library on Thursday.

“This is a message to every library in the United States: In 137 years of the Indianapolis Public Library’s history, NEVER ONCE have they had over 2,500 people show up to a single event,” the publication wrote. “UNTIL TODAY.”

“After being refused or ignored by over 50 libraries to read the new children’s book As You Grow, Indianapolis Library allowed us to come host a story hour,” Brave Books said. “Needless to say, we showed up with a few friends!”

“No longer will Christians be silent. No longer will we be shut away.”

“We will be here, we will stand strong & we will show the world how many of us there really are!

Thank you to everyone who gave up their morning to join us! This movement is beginning! Host your own Brave Books Story Hour Today!” the tweet concluded.

On Friday, Cameron will continue his story time hour at the Scarsdale Public Library.
