CPR was administered on the field.
It reminds me of this hit that almost killed Drew Bledsoe — his heart was partially separated from the chest wall because of the collision force. However, Hamlin got up and seemed fine, and then collapsed.
He likely had stopped breathing before hitting the ground.
Update | He is apparently unable to breathe on his own…
