Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’s Daughter, Dies at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, died Thursday at the age of 54.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a Thursday evening statement, according to AP News. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

Presley had been taken to the hospital earlier Thursday after paramedics were called to her home, responding to an episode of cardiac arrest.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that paramedics performed CPR and “determined the patient had signs of life” before transporting her to the hospital.

Presley had just made a public appearance on Tuesday at the Golden Globes. She was asked about actor Austin Butler’s performance as her father in the film Elvis.

“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it,” she told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic that, yeah, I can’t even describe what it meant.”

Butler won a Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Drama for his portrayal of Elvis.

“Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me,” Butler said to Lisa Marie and her mom, Priscilla Presley, as they sat in the audience. “Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”

Earlier this month, Presley also visited Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, to celebrate the anniversary of her father’s birthday.

In August, Presley wrote an essay for People magazine about the “horrific reality” of her grief after her son committed suicide in 2020. Benjamin Storm Presley Keough was 27.

“I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of 9 years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime, and somehow, I’ve made it this far,” she wrote in August.
