Two principles at work here:
– There is no behavior so awful and corrupt that it would justify removing a Democrat member of Congress from a committee assignment because they are Democrats and Democrats good intentions and motives are beyond scrutiny.
– There is no behavior so ordinary and insignificant that it would not justify removing a Republican member of Congress from a committee assignment, especially if the Republican is aggressively partisan, because they are Republicans, political opposition, and Republicans evil intentions and motives are an existential threat to Democracy and all that is good in society.
You could add a third principle here and state that it is impossible for Democrats to be guilty of hypocrisy, no matter how blatant the double standard, because Democrats are simply embody sweetness and light and are just trying to better serve society and preserve our democracy.
