NJ Christian Councilwoman Is Fatally Shot Outside Her Home
A 30-year-old Republican councilwoman from Sayreville, New Jersey, was killed Wednesday evening outside her home.
As reported by Fox News, Eunice Dwumfour was reportedly killed outside her home and later found inside her vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
“We are so heartbroken to announce that our friend, Councilwoman from Sayreville, part of our HRC (Human Relation Commission), our personal friend, a woman of God, Eunice Dwumfour, was murder tonight in Sayreville,” Pastor Doctor Nelia Rodriguez and Detective Juan Rodriguez wrote on their joint Facebook page late Wednesday night.
“She was an amazing friend, a woman who loved God. We were just at our HRC meeting on January 5, 2023, and I just saw her this morning at the store. I remember saying to her, ‘I see you at the HRC meeting tomorrow,’ not knowing tonight was going to be the end of her life. I can’t stop crying. She was 30 years young and full of life. You will be missed, my dear, precious friend. May she RIP.”
According to Faithwire, Dwumfour won her seat on the council in 2021 and previously served as a liaison to public safety and the Sayreville Human Relations Commission.
Sayreville Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick (D) commended the late councilwoman for her “deep faith” and “strong Christian beliefs.”
“Beyond her dedication to our community, I can share that she was a woman of deep faith and worked hard to integrate her strong Christian beliefs into her daily life as a person and a community leader,” Kilpatrick said. “On a personal note, I can’t adequately express my feeling of sorrow at the loss of a friend.”
Dwumfour’s 20-year-old sister, Priscilla, remembers her sibling as someone who was deeply devoted to her faith and church in Newark.
“She was always happy,” Priscilla told USA Today Network.
New Jersey Republican State Committee Bob Hugin also remembered Dwumfour for her beliefs in a statement.
“We will remember Eunice for her steadfast dedication to the community, as well as her deep and abiding Christian faith,” Hugin said. “We have the utmost confidence that law enforcement will bring the perpetrators of this heartbreaking tragedy to justice. God Bless Councilwoman Dwumfour and her family.”
As reported by ABC News, Dwumfour was recently married and had a 12-year-old daughter.
