Mom Fuming as Daughter, 13, Gets Chest Binder at School — and is Urged Not to Tell Parents; Mother demands investigation after school counselor gave her 13-year-old a CHEST BINDER and started calling her by a male name to help her socially transition without her parents’ consent

Mom fuming as daughter, 13, gets chest binder at school — and is urged not to tell parents:

A Maine mom has called for an investigation into her 13-year-old daughter’s school after she claims a social worker gave the teen a gender-transitioning device known as a “chest binder” and encouraged her to keep it secret from her parents.

Amber Lavigne, of Damariscotta, told the National Review that she found her daughter’s chest-flattening garment in December and confronted the teen, who claimed a friend gave it to her.

“I want you to think long and hard if there’s anything else you want to share with me about this because I am going to reach out to your friend’s mom,” Lavigne said she told her daughter.

The girl then admitted she got the device at the Great Salt Bay Community School, where she had been reassigned to a new social worker, Samuel Roy, according to the outlet.

But school officials never informed the mother and Roy never reached out to her, according to the National Review.

Lavigne said that when she discovered the chest binder, she emailed Superintendent Lynsey Johnston and Principal Kim Shaff.

Shaff called her the next morning to ask for more details about the binder and what exactly was in it, she said.

“Because in her mind I’m talking about, like, a three-ring binder, something you should find in a school,” Lavigne told the news outlet. —>READ MORE HERE

Mother demands investigation after school counselor gave her 13-year-old a CHEST BINDER and started calling her by a male name to help her socially transition without her parents’ consent:

A Maine mother has demanded an investigation after a school counselor gave her 13-year-old daughter a chest binder and started calling her by a male name to help her socially transition without parental consent.

Amber Lavigne, of Wiscasset, discovered the chest binder in her daughter’s room while the eighth-grader was at a school dance. The garment – which looked like a tank top with a built-in bra – smelled strongly when she found it, as though her daughter had been hiding it from her and not put it in her laundry bin.

When Lavigne confronted the 13-year-old that night, she claimed a friend had purchased it for her. But after pressing her for more information, the young girl admitted the binder ‘came from my school.

Lavigne then learned Great Salt Bay School had changed her daughter’s counselor with her knowledge and that a person called Sam Roy had informed her daughter about gender transitioning. He had reportedly purchased two binders for the girl and told her she did not need to tell her parents – and that he wouldn’t either.

It is also claimed he helped her begin socially transitioning at school by referring to her by a male name and with he/him pronouns.

Lavigne, who works in mental healthcare and considers herself to be ‘pretty open-minded, told the National Review she was aware her daughter was struggling with her gender identity after a Great Salt Bay School social worker had met with her at the end of the seventh-grade year.

However, the mom didn’t think much of it. Her daughter, who she did not publicly named, had gone from by a girly girl, who loved nail polish and makeup, to a bit of a tomboy as puberty rolled around. —>READ MORE HERE
