Asbury University to Conclude Revival on National Collegiate Day of Prayer

Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, will conclude its ongoing revival this Thursday following 2-weeks of non-stop worship and prayer on campus.

The revival, which began February 8, made national headlines and has drawn people from around the nation to join with the students.

“On February 8, 2023, Asbury University’s regularly scheduled chapel service never ended. What we have experienced since that Wednesday morning has been a current of immeasurable goodness flooding our community and quickly moving into other regions of the world. Words fail any effort to communicate the abundance of experiences and stories that will leave us forever changed,” Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown said in a statement.

Brown shared that the school will conclude its ongoing worship service on Thursday, February 23, which is the National Collegiate Day of Prayer. The event will be broadcasted on campus.

“I find it fitting that what started with college students on our campus is ending with college students joined in prayer and worship across the country,” he said.

According to Fox2Now, the university will host ministry programs on campus for college and high students after the services conclude.

“This schedule is an attempt to recognize and steward this beautiful, historic moment of spiritual renewal while quickly moving toward a more sustainable campus experience for our students that fosters predictability, well-being, and continuity,” Brown explained.

Nevertheless, the university president asserted that the movement “is not finished.”

“Other colleges and churches are experiencing similar services,” he added. “Rather, we are encouraging the continued movement of God through other people, places, and ministries.

“At Asbury University, we are excited to think carefully about how we process and steward this experience with our students. We want to capture their voices. We want to walk with them in continual discipleship. We want to commission them to be “salt and light” to serve the world and glorify God,” Brown concluded.

Asbury University has previously experienced revival services, including one in 1970, which was also on a massive scale.
