Lauren Daigle Releases First Single from Two-Part Album

Last week, Christian singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle released the first single from her upcoming two-part album.

In the piano ballad titled “Thank God I Do,” Daigle thanks God “for the beauty of knowing him” and “for the beauty of who he puts in your life to carry you through certain seasons.”

As reported by ChurchLeaders.com, the single was inspired by life during the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainties that came with it. Daigle shared that those experiences helped her realize that “God puts very specific people in your life for a very specific reason. And I needed the people in my life at that time around me to keep my head above the water.”

During the pandemic, Daigle started multiple girl groups to keep in contact with her friends since nobody could tour.

The online groups “allowed me an opportunity to … see my friends that I hadn’t been able to keep up with relationally in a while,” she said.

“I don’t know who I’d be/ If I didn’t know you / I’d probably fall off the edge/I don’t know where I’d go/ If you ever let go/ So keep me held in your hands/ I don’t know who I’d be/ If I didn’t know you/ Thank God I do,” the chorus read.

“You’re my safe place, my hideaway/ You’re my anchor, my saving grace/ You’re my constant, my steadiness/ You’re my shelter, my oxygen/ I don’t know who I’d be/ If I didn’t know you/ Thank God I do,” the lyrics continue.

The single, released on March 8, also aired on KLOVE at the top of each hour.

On the same day Daigle announced the release of “Thank God I Do,” she also shared that she will be releasing the first 10 songs from her new self-titled album on May 12. The second half of the album will be released later this year.

“Thank God I Do” is here! And the first 10 songs from my new {Self-Titled} album are releasing on May 12th! You can pre-save, pre-add, pre-order NOW all in the link in bio,” she wrote on Instagram.
