‘I Was Really Broken’: Chris Pratt Opens Up about How God Saved Him

Hollywood actor Chris Pratt recently opened up about his journey to Christ and meeting his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

According to The Blaze, Pratt recently appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to promote his new movie, The Super Mario Bros. He stars in the film as the iconic video game character, Mario. During the interview, Pratt shared that he was at a low point before meeting Schwarzenegger, whom he married in 2019 and has two daughters with.

Sharing that he used to steal glances at her at church before they met, Pratt said, “You kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Whoa, who is that?’ at church, you know what I mean? But I was kind of sneaking some glances, and I was like, ‘Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on, I’m broken, help me,'” Pratt told actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore.

“God has a fast-forward button,” he continued. “When it’s right, boom. You fall in love; you get married. Now we have two beautiful daughters to add to my family.”

Pratt was previously married to actress Anna Faris, but the pair divorced in 2018. They have a son together.

Pratt, a professing Christian, also talked about how God saved him during a low point in his life.

“There was a moment in my life that I was really struggling and felt really broken,” he shared.

“My own journey, finding a higher power and leaning on that and being like, ‘please save me,’ and then feeling saved,” he added. “And then shortly later finding the woman of my dreams and being like,’ This is, wow, this feels great.'”

“It’s all about timing and, you know? It’s all… there’s a perfect plan out there for you. And I think you just gotta have faith,” Pratt shared. “And if you have, the minute you have faith, it falls into place.”

Pratt has long been outspoken about his Christian faith. One of his most notable public declarations of faith was at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, where he told the audience that God loves them and referenced Christ’s atoning death.

“People are going to tell you [that] you’re perfect just the way that you are,” he told the audience at the time. “You’re not. You’re imperfect. You always will be, but there is a powerful force that designed you that way, and if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift. And like the freedom that we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood.”

Earlier this year, Pratt reflected on his speech on Instagram, asserting that he “wouldn’t change a thing.”

Pratt has starred in a number of big-name films, including the Jurassic World trilogy and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series.
