Shots fired at Tayibe mayor’s house, security guard killed – report
Shots were fired at the house of Shua’a Mansur, the mayor of the Arab city Tayibe in central Israel early Friday morning.
Mansur’s security guard, Adir Vahib Ghanem, was killed in the incident. Before his death was determined, he had been evacuated to to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. Ghanem was approximately 25-years-old, according to Hebrew media.
Police are investigating the incident.
According to the testimonies of residents, two unknown people arrived in the area and stood outside the house, and then called Ghanem’s name, Ynet reported. Following this, he went outside, and then according to the residents, 10 bullets were fired at him.
Another tragedy at the same city
Also in Tayibe, a four-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by a moving vehicle and later died from his wounds on Thursday night at the the Meir Hospital, N12 reported.
MDA paramedics evacuated him from Tayibe to the hospital shortly before doctors at the medical facility pronounced his death.
Police have detained a suspect whom they believe was behind the wheel when the vehicle collided with the child.
A different incident occurring the same night
Around the same time as the Tayibe shooting, a resident died following a violent incident in the Shuafat refugee camp, a police spokesperson stated.
Medical officials stated that the resident arrived at the Shuafat crossing while seriously injured, and from there was evacuated to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in Jerusalem, where he was later pronounced dead.
Israel Police are also investigating the circumstances behind this incident.
