Tucker Hints At His Future Plans In New Video, Blasts Corporate Media For Banning Real Debate
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson released a video statement on Wednesday night, in which he hinted at his future plans following his abrupt exit from the network. He also took the time to blast legacy media for stifling debate on important issues affecting the American public.
“One of the first things you realize when you step outside the noise for a few days is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country. Kind and decent people. People who really care about what’s true,” Carlson said in a video posted to his Twitter account. “The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are. They’re completely irrelevant, they mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them.”
Carlson went on to blast America’s corporate media for collectively focusing on such nonsense instead of the “big topics” that will affect the future of everyday Americans.
“The undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all,” Carlson said. “War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues? … Debates like that are not permitted in American media. Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.”
While Carlson noted how such circumstances make the United States look like a “one-party state,” he went on to express optimism that legacy media’s power in stifling debate is “not permanent.”
“Our current orthodoxies won’t last. They’re brain-dead. Nobody actually believes them. Hardly anyone’s life is improved by them” he said. “This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue, and so it won’t. The people in charge know this, that’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion [and are] resorting to force. But it won’t work. When honest people say what’s true calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful.”
He continued, “At the same time, the liars who’ve been trying to silence them shrink. They become weaker. That’s the iron law of the universe: True things prevail.”
In closing his remarks, Carlson hinted at his future after Fox News, saying “there aren’t many places left” where Americans can discuss “true things,” but that “there are some, and that’s enough.”
“As long as you can hear the words, there is hope,” he added.
On Monday, Fox News released a press release revealing the network and Carlson had “agreed to part ways” but didn’t provide a specific reason as to why Carlson was leaving. The network furthermore said the last episode of the former host’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” — which has consistently ranked as the highest-rated show on cable news — aired on Friday.
Carlson’s Twitter video has already garnered more than double the views his former 8 p.m. ET time slot got on Fox News Tuesday night, according to the ratings released Wednesday.
