Eight suspects were arrested by Israel Police early on Friday morning following riots and violent incidents across the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of A-Tur and the Old City, police said.
Two suspects were arrested in the Old City of Jerusalem after they, according to police, attacked civilians and Israeli forces with pepper spray before attempting to escape the scene.
The two were arrested by Israel Police and Border Police officers and will be interrogated, police said. Another suspect, a resident of Ashdod, was arrested on Thursday night after pepper spraying and assaulting two in the Old City, lightly injuring them.
In A-Tur, five suspects including residents of eastern Jerusalem and Israelis living in the West Bank were detained by police following a scuffle in which rocks were thrown by the two groups, police said.
Israeli forces on the scene used riot control measures to successfully disperse the crowd.
